Kata Jion/Gion : Learning Karate At Home (1.2.17)

Jion/Gion


      Meaning of Gion (sometimes read jion) has not been found. It is a kata Shorei named after the Chinese monk came to Okinawa. Gion is also the name of temples in Japan and China. And Gion known as the name of the Holy Buddhist monk. This kata name has not changed. Gion studied at Tomari. Another version of kata Gion also studied the style of Wado-Ryu Karate. In taking the name of the Holy Buddhist monk, Gion connotes serenity, full of pride, and the full power of such a study. This kata is demonstrated by Sensei Tanaka in the book The Best Karate.

      Important thing :

      Tranquility, a movement full of energy, with a great fighting spirit. Has 47 movements with the application time of 60 seconds.
